This notice explains how personal data is used when you use Rainplanter or purchase a drawing pack.
Last updated 12 October 2026
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for Rainplanter is Ciarán Allidine, trading as Rainplanter, of D08 YAA6.
Privacy questions and requests concerning your personal data can be sent to info@rainplanter.ie or made by telephone at 089 707 5876.
2. Information we may process
Depending on how you use the service, we may process:
- project information you enter, such as project location, roof area, drainage choices, planter dimensions, construction option and optional project name;
- calculated and generated design information needed to display and create your drawing pack;
- checkout identifiers, payment status, payment references and related transaction information returned through the SumUp payment flow;
- the date and time at which you confirm immediate digital supply and acknowledge the associated cancellation-right information;
- information you provide if you contact us for support, a complaint or a consumer-rights request; and
- technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, request data and security or diagnostic logs that may be processed by the website or its hosting infrastructure.
3. Payment information
Card details are entered into SumUp's hosted checkout rather than directly into Rainplanter. SumUp processes payment information under its own privacy information and legal obligations.
Rainplanter receives information needed to identify and verify a checkout, such as checkout ID, checkout reference, amount, currency and payment status. We do not need your full card number or card security code to generate the drawing pack.
4. Why we use personal data
We use personal data where necessary to:
- resolve the project location and obtain relevant rainfall data;
- calculate and display your rainwater-planter design;
- generate the drawing pack you request;
- create, verify and administer a purchase;
- keep a record of digital-supply consent and acknowledgement associated with a checkout;
- respond to support, payment or consumer-rights enquiries;
- protect, troubleshoot and maintain the service; and
- comply with legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.
5. Legal bases
Where personal data is needed to provide the free designer or a paid drawing pack requested by you, processing may be necessary to take steps at your request or to perform a contract with you.
Transaction, consumer-law and accounting records may be processed where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
Limited technical and security information may be processed for legitimate interests in operating, protecting, improving and troubleshooting Rainplanter, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
If a future feature relies on consent, you will be asked for that consent separately and may withdraw it where the law gives you that right.
6. Browser storage
Rainplanter uses browser storage to keep the working design and information needed to complete and return from checkout. This can include project inputs, selected planter dimensions, non-secret checkout references and records connected with the digital-supply acknowledgement.
Some storage is session-based and is intended to disappear when the browser session ends. Limited functional storage may remain until it is overwritten, removed by the application or cleared through your browser settings.
This storage is used to provide requested functionality and is not intended for behavioural advertising.
7. Cookies and analytics
The current Rainplanter application does not intentionally use non-essential advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies. Essential storage or similar technologies may be used where needed to provide the service you request.
SumUp, Netlify and other third-party service providers may use their own cookies or similar technologies when you interact with their services. Their use of those technologies is governed by their own notices and settings.
If Rainplanter adds non-essential analytics, advertising or similar tracking in future, this notice and any required consent controls will be updated before that tracking is enabled.
8. Who information may be shared with
Personal data may be shared where necessary with service providers that help operate Rainplanter, including:
- SumUp, where required to create, process and verify a payment;
- Netlify, which provides hosting and technical infrastructure for the website;
- service providers used to resolve a project location or obtain rainfall/design data, to the extent information must be sent to them for the requested calculation;
- professional advisers and service providers where reasonably necessary to operate the business or deal with a dispute; and
- regulators, courts, public authorities or other recipients where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
9. How long information is kept
Working design information held only in browser storage is not intended to operate as a permanent customer account.
Transaction, consent, support and complaint records are retained only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes for which they were collected and for applicable legal, tax, accounting, dispute-resolution and consumer-protection requirements.
Technical logs may be retained for limited periods by Rainplanter or its infrastructure providers for security, reliability and troubleshooting.
10. International data transfers
Some service providers may process personal data outside Ireland or the European Economic Area. Where data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the relevant provider or Rainplanter will rely on an applicable adequacy decision or another lawful transfer mechanism such as approved contractual safeguards.
11. Security
Rainplanter uses reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the service. Payment-card entry is handled through SumUp's hosted payment environment rather than being collected directly by Rainplanter.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe information connected with Rainplanter has been exposed or misused, contact us at info@rainplanter.ie.
12. Automated calculations
Rainplanter automatically calculates design outputs from the project information and technical assumptions used by the tool. It does not use personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about an individual.
13. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, data-protection law may give you rights to request access to personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or data portability, and to object to certain processing. Where processing relies on consent, you may also have the right to withdraw that consent.
To make a request, contact info@rainplanter.ie. We may need enough information to verify your identity and identify the relevant records.
14. Complaints
If you have concerns about how personal data is handled, please contact us first at info@rainplanter.ie. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Irish Data Protection Commission where applicable.
15. Changes to this notice
This notice will be reviewed when the way Rainplanter processes personal data changes. The latest version and its update date will be published on this page.
